Some things
to know.

Internet

Network: The Ridge
Wifi Password:
welcometotheridge

Due to this cabin's remote location, traditional internet access does not exist. Our cabin utilizes a satellite-based internet service called Starlink. The connection is generally flawless, but sometimes interruptions happen and hiccups or dropouts last about five seconds. If this happens, you’ll experience a delay or pause in your connection. This is normal, and it will be restored.

Wildlife

We are in a rural area with tons of wildlife, especially bears, and bears really like human trash. PLEASE do not leave any food, garbage, or drinks outside. Once the bears find a food resource, they keep coming back. Please place all trash in the bear box located outside at the back of the house.

Grocery Store

The nicest and closest grocery store is the Ingles, located in Forrest City at 756 S Church St #210, Forest City, NC 28043.

Talking House

Because the home is built mostly from wood, you’ll hear pops and cracks as temperatures change and the wood expands or contracts. This is completely normal and generally happens as the sun sets or rises.

Water & Septic

Due to our location on the mountain, our water must come from a well more than 650 feet below the cabin. Because of this, water is not easy to come by; please respect our water resources and turn off the water when not in use.

Please note that we are also on a septic tank, so please don’t send any special surprises down the drain. Number one, number two, and good ole TP are the only items on the approved travel list.

Sonos Music

The main floor living room has a Sonos speaker, which allows you to stream music from your phone as long as you are connected to the Wi-Fi. Download the Sonos app for a better experience.

Closest Trash Drop-off Location

Our cleaning team provides trash pickup at check-out, but if you are staying with us for a longer period and would like to dispose of household trash, you can take it to the Golden Valley Convenience Center. Please note that the convenience center is closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
